概述
Freight Quote Normalizer
Convert unlike freight quotes into a traceable comparison while preserving omissions as unknowns rather than zero-cost items.
Workflow
- Confirm shipment mode, origin, destination, cargo measurements, Incoterm, service scope, and comparison currency.
- Read [references/normalization-model.md](references/normalization-model.md) for charge bases and comparison rules.
- Extract every charge with its original currency, rate, basis, minimum, inclusion status, and tax status.
- Require an explicit exchange rate to the base currency for each quote. Record rate source and date outside the calculation.
- Define expected cost categories, adapt [references/example-input.json](references/example-input.json), then run
scripts/normalize_freight_quotes.py. - Compare totals only alongside missing categories, exclusions, transit time, validity, routing, and service scope.
Deliverable
Provide:
- shipment and comparison basis;
- original and normalized charge-line tables;
- known total in original and base currency;
- missing, included, and explicitly excluded cost categories;
- service, route, validity, and transit-time differences;
- conditional recommendation; and
- questions required before booking.
Boundaries
The lowest known total is not necessarily the lowest final cost. A missing line is unknown, not included, unless the quote explicitly says it is included. Do not infer chargeable weight, destination coverage, customs duties, taxes, demurrage risk, or insurance. Treat estimated transit as non-guaranteed unless the source says otherwise.
